network planner integrate the routing requirements of the branch
with as many as four Ethernet segments and integrate the dial
requirements with the synch/asynch module as well as the ISDN
dial-in capability. All in a single chassis!
NM-4T Network Module Overview
A four-port serial network module is now available for the Cisco
3600 series. With this newest addition to the portfolio of existing
serial modules, customers can choose just the right configuration
at the right price for their specific applications.
The NM-4T, a four-port serial network module, has four
synchronous serial interfaces. The NM-4T network module
requires only a single slot in a Cisco 3600 series router. The
network module supports a total throughput of 8 Mbps full duplex
across all four ports. However, as indicated in Table 3, if only a
single port is utilized, the throughput on that port can reach up to
8 Mbps full duplex. Other combinations are also listed.
NM-4T Applications/Benefits
The new module provides cost-effective solutions for any
environment, delivers very low price per port, and provides higher
performance than comparable solutions from competitors. A
typical example where the new module can be very useful is in the
case of small- to medium-size ISPs with high serial density
requirements. These ISPs can lower cost per port and cost per
subscriber by using a Cisco 3640 with dual four-port serial
network modules and a two-port Channelized T1 network module
for ISDN PRI dial applications.
